London Fire Brigade, Hammersmith and Fulham Police have been working with the police MPS Helicopter tackling a blaze which broke out in a scrap yard in Breer Street, just north of Carnwath Road and west of Wandsworth Bridge Road, this afternoon, Wednesday June 11.

As this picture taken from the helicopter shows, smoke from the fire was visible for miles.

The Fire Brigade first alerted the public to the fire just after 3pm this afternoon, tweeting @LondonFire: " We've got 4 fire engines & 20 firefighters attending a fire on Breer Street in Fulham. It can be seen from miles around. More soon."

Twenty minutes later the Brigade tweeted: " The fire on Breer Street in Fulham is in a scrap yard. A single storey shed is alight. No reports of any injuries."

However at around 4.20pm, they added: " Breer Street, SW6 update: A man left the single storey lock-up before we arrived. He is being treated for smoke inhalation by @Ldn_Ambulance."

Meanwhile, Hammersmith and Fulham Police tweeted at 3.30pm@MPSHammFul: " Currently working with @MPSinthesky, @Ldn_Ambulance and @LondonFire at a scrap yard fire in SW6 near Wandsworth Bridge. #FHTeam4."

Shortly after 4pm, they tweeted the picture on the right of the fire crew at work saying: "Not a job if you fear heights. Or fires ! @LondonFire working hard get the #FulhamFire under control. #FHTeam4."

And they are advising local motorists: " Please avoid the area of Wandsworth Bridge Road, Carnwarth Road and Townmead Road whilst the fire in a scrap yard is dealt with. #FHTeam4."
