Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision in North End Road in December which caused the death of Fulham pensioner Elizabeth Jallum.
Police say they were called at 12.34pm on December 12 to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and an HGV on North End Road.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found an injured 79 year-old woman, who was taken to hospital where she later died.
The woman was formally identified as local resident Elizabeth Jallum and a post-mortem examination found she died of multiple injuries.
The driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.
After Elizabeth's death, a condolence book was opened at St Andrew's Church in Greyhound Road were she was a parishioner for many years, and Reverend Guy Wilkinson, vicar at St Andrew’s, called for North End Road to be pedestrianised to make it safer.
Her death came a year after a similar accident in North End Road resulted in the death of 72 year-old Lezli Tauber. At the inquest into his death, investigating traffic officer PC Martin Fearon and Chinyere Inyama, senior coroner for West London Coroner’s Court both called for a change in the law to have all lorries fitted with central front mirrors.
Referring to the accident on December 12, Detective Constable April Cummins, says: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in North End Road and witnessed the collision, or the moments just prior to it, to contact the police."
Anyone who witnessed or has any information about the incident is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157.
