The weirdest event of the year is back at Brompton Cemetery on Friday August 19.

The annual Dr Death lecture, complete with illustrations, is given by Robert Stephenson and this year, the subject is sepulchral symbolism.

The evening begins at 6.30pm for 7p, with refreshments served beforehand. All are welcome and tickets cost £7 on the door.

There are also guided tours of the cemetery, where 210,000 people are buried on Sunday August 21 and 28, at 2pm on both days. The tour takes around two hours and begins at the South Lodge by the Fulham Road entrance.

A donation of £5 per person goes toward the work of the Friends of Brompton Cemetery
